The challenge of pressing another 750 litres was completed on day 2 of the harvest though it did take until 2100. At 0800 two of the dedicated Twisted Cider crew showed up ready for work closely followed by volunteer number three, so the four of us set out and a good start to the day it was.

One to shovel the apples into the water, one to wash and bucket them, one to mill and one to make the cheese's. The perfect number of people for an operation of our size and you can imagine our enjoyment when a fifth person showed up just after a good farmhouse breakfast.

So all was good up until high noon when we lost three of the team bringing us down to two. This of course did slow down our progress but none the less we carried on to achieve our goal.

At 1230 we finished off our first two tonnes of apples and it was great timing too as our local farmer arrived shortly after with another two tonnes. As they had to be shovelled from the trailer production was put to a stand still for around an hour and with the last volunteer leaving at 4pm I soon realised it was going to be a late night but when you're making cider late nights are worth it.
