Time to go Wassailing!

Date added: 13th January 2012

"Apple tree, apple tree, we all come to wassail thee, Bear this year and next year to bloom and to blow, Hat fulls, cap fulls, three cornered sack fulls, Hip, Hip, Hip, hurrah, Holler boys, holler hurrah."

This rhyme will be sung by us Twisted Cider Bunch down in our Orchards following the old tradition of singing and drinking, which is always good fun, with a purpose of waking up those Cider Apple Trees after a Winters nap and driving out any unwanted evil spirits that have decided to hibernate, bringing a fruitful harvest in the coming Autumn.

Not only will we be filling our lungs with fresh Dorset air and sing aloud, our noise pollution will be increased by the pounding of pot & pans tied round our waists with sticks and stones. To follow the old tradition our shotguns will also be loaded to let off the final scare making sure those spirits have disappeared for another year.
